These Orders represent the original Orders of the Lootverse: the societal structure with which the Adventurers were organized at the "beginning state" of the Lootverse.
Think of Orders as the original teams, the original armies, the original societies of Loot.
Over time, characters across Orders evolved, co-mingled, bred new adventurers and societies, and beyond.

Based on the non-alphabetical "order of the Orders" in the OG Loot contract, and the groupings of the words, there is an implied structure to the 16 Orders.

Developing Canonical Lore for the 16 Orders
The details of each Order are still undetermined and must be created and voted on by the community.
The current thinking is that each Order is underpinned by a theme — societal metaphors that imply a rich history of skills & abilities, how the orders communicate, see the world, structure their families, and beyond.
